Tim Swain, one our firm's partners, is the primary attorney involved in eminent domain and condemnation litigation. He spent 12 years as a Special Assistant for the Attorney General of the State of Illinois and handled a number of cases involving the acquisition of right of way for highways on behalf of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois Department of Conservation. Since joining Swain Hartshorn & Scott in 1985, he has worked on behalf of the city of Peoria as well as landowners whose properties were being condemned.

Mr. Swain has taken more than 40 condemnation and other cases to jury trial. He has extensive experience with the processes and concepts involved, including the finer legal points of the right of eminent domain.
